It's just so sad that the whole world didn't get to know the Barry and Billy in their grownup years, and now they're gone. There was so much talent and ingeneousness in both, and we, the ones left behind, are the ones who will suffer. They were marvelous - I envy Heaven!

Barry- Wow I can't believe its been 1 year. I remember the day I met you at the El Rey. You treated me like I have known your forever. I will never forget that special moment we had when I gave you your B-day card and asked you to sign my album. You made my day. Then as we walked passed eachother you said to me hello again it was so nice to meet you. I will never forget your kindness and your "friendship" you gave me that day. I miss you Barry. I miss yu alot. You have influenced me to become a better performer. You are by far a legend in my eyes. Say hello to Billy and tell him the same. That you 2 are such an inspiration and legends to me. I miss you deeply. Your forever in my Heart,Soul, and Mind. <3

Barry;
Your music has touched me deeply. Over the years I have looked back and remember as if it were yesterday, sitting in the back seat of my Father's 66 Pontiac as your song, the Rain, The Park and Other Things played on the radio. Most of all I remember how I felt hearing you and your family singing and the uplifting feeling your music brought to me. You and Billy will be missed. My thoughts and Prayers are with all of the Cowsill Family.

Sincerely, John Kubik

Barry,

I can't believe it has been a year since we gathered in Newport to celebrate your life, and lend support to your wonderful family. Thanks for the opportunity to meet them, for the music they (and you!) gave us, and most especially, for the friends I've made because of you.

You will never be forgotten.

Lauren :)

Katrina seemed so far away from me until I learned of your tragic fate. Being from Rhode Island myself, the passing of you and Billy hit me especially hard. Still, out of all this sadness has come a new appreciation for you and your amazing family. Rest in Peace Barry.

Time marches on...but no matter how many days, months, and years pass I will remember you. Often I cry when I think of you but I'm beginning to smile, too. You cracked me up. I never really thanked you for "the song" and wish I had. So...thank you!!!! It's a piece of you I can hold close to my heart forever. One of these days I'll even be able to listen to it again but...not yet. As always, I'll say my standard closing: G'night, B. I love you. I miss you.

A warm handshake and a hug goes out to the Cowsill family from everyone in my family. As a small child driving around in the car with my Dad or Mom growing up in Fall River, Mass. I always was "hyped up" when "Indian Lake" came on the radio. As an adult of 22 years old I heard "The Rain, The Park and Other Things" on the radio and it made me cry. The beautiful harmonies rang together so well it caused me to research the Cowsills. The theme from "Hair" was a song my older sister and I would sing along and laugh with as young children. You should have seen the suprises on patrons faces when I sang it at a Karaoke Bar one night.

My family and I produce an Internet Music Broadcast called "Family Entertainment Radio" at www.superjukebox.net and we played "Indian Lake" in our summer music specials.
We are currently working on a "Celebrity Curtain Call 2006" which spotlights celebrities who passed away in 2006. We will spotlight Billy & Barry in the show. the show will be scheduled for Thursday & Friday afternoons for the next 6-8 weeks and be re-broadcast many times after.

God Bless the Cowsill Family.

sincerely

I woke this January 2007 day thinking, for some reason, about Barry Cowsill. Having seen and heard a few years ago that he'd hitting some rough emotional waters, I found myself wanting to see if a person who had given so many so much joy had finally found it for himself again...instead, I discovered that he had found eternal peace. As a teen, there wasn't much for me to look forward to at my negligent, violent home, however, there was the radio, the record player, teen magzines, The Cowsill's Live album, and a small storage room in which to escape. Looking at and listening to Barry offered much comfort and relief from all the verbal and physical beatings at my house. These days, I'm an advocate and counselor-in-training for abused children. I explain to the troubled young people I encounter the importance of filling up one's senses with the kinds of nourishing, uplifting sights and sounds Barry provided me. He helped me feel good enough that I never delved into drugs or alcohol. WHEREVER YOU ARE, BARRY, THANK YOU!!!

First of all I wish to give my condolences to the Cowsill family.
The loss of Barry was quite a shock to me. I'll remember him as this handsome kid who loved playing his Hoffner bass guitar. May God Bless You All.

We are listening to the Cowsills Best Of right now. Your music will ALWAYS have a place in our hearts - has done since we were children.

I am originally from the Bronx in N.Y. and my wife Pauly is from Essex in the UK but we both grew up with your sounds.

The Cowsills never fail to warm our hearts and bring a silly smile to our faces.

As musicians and writers ourselves, we leave you by simply saying ...

COWSILLS FOREVER!

Love and peace,
Jose, Pauly and family

I'm always thinking of you, every day. I can't believe how hard it is to deal with losing you even though it had been so long since I last saw you. You never (ever!) called before midnight. When the phone rang at 2 a.m. it was always you. (Normal people call before 10, B!) If I could have one wish, it would be to have you appear before me and write an impromptu song which you'd subsequently sing as Boris Karloff (or maybe Daffy). You never GOT how good you were. Or how funny. Our lives crossed for only a few short years but what an impression you left on me. I loved BOTH of you...Barry Cowsill ("The Performer") and B, the guy you were the rest of the time. I met you when you wanted to be someone else and even though it stopped mattering long ago, I've still kept it all to myself--that somehow makes knowing you seem more precious. It's just easier to say I've never met you than to try to explain it all.

Now...let's pretend it's 4 am and you're on the phone. Can you hear me saying, "I hear birds chirping...I've got to get some sleep! " That was before cell phones and free long distance. God, I had to take loans out to pay for those collect calls! If you figure out a way to call now, I promise I'll stay on the line...for hours. Collect is fine--I won't complain a bit.
G'night, B.
P.S. You know, just to continue our argument...you really were incredibly good looking. And no, you're wrong, it wasn't "just marketing".
P.P.S. Remind me again why I thought it was a good idea to keep it platonic? Was I out of my mind?
