Played Billy's music on Vancouver radio, and did a number of shows with his bands. He was kind of shy and guarded but very cool.
You had the it factor, Billy.
I quit smoking because of you. Hopefully I will live healthier. You see, you are still inspiring people!
Thank you, Bill.
RIP

I was watching "Dumb and Dumber" tonight on TV and they started playing the song, "The Rain, the Park and Other Things" and it got me thinking about the Cowsills and what great harmony they sang in their songs! You know....I think I miss that sound! Barry and the Cowsills....you music live on!

Dear Cowsills: I found my way here, I guess, because Billy is the oldest. Anyway, I now have 3 musically inclined teenagers of my own. Having said that, I see how incredible it is to have a family get together and perform at that level. The only other comparable musical families I can think of are the Jackson 5 and the Osmonds. But the Cowsills were the first.
So thanks to all of you for the years you gave us. You are a formidable part of the love I have for music today.

seems like yesterday was the 60's..While others grew up on the beatles because of my sisters I grew up with the Cowsills. It inspired me to be in bands with moderate success but it was the fun. I still hear the ocean at night as I did as a kid and when I hear cowsills songs I am imediately brought back to a time which today seems so innocent. Thank you for your family and maybe, and if things keep going this fast, soon well all be where you are now and can possibly jam wow now that would be cool. My deepest condolences to the Cowsill family who shared their lives and talent, and I'm so glad continue to. From a kid from the Bronx who escaped to the shore for a week in the summer with an AM radio and the Cowsills..now living on the shore my lighthouse.

John Lennon wrote " Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans". Seems I have missed Billy's passing working my plan. I first met Billy at the Fairview Pub in Van. I walked in and heard a most genuinely beautiful original musical Voice. When told he was Billy Cowsill I was floored. He had the aura and presence of a great original talent with his lyrics and voice. He always took time to say hello "Black" and share a good chat. Rest in Peace Billy, the torments suffered by great Artists now gone are over for them, you have a closer place in my heart, with them. Thanks Billy. "Black"

Man,where have I been all this time. I feel so bad for Billy and his family. I was in high school from 65 thru 68 and always remembered Rain in the Park. I continue to play this song today. Bless you Billy, and you will always be remembered.

WOW, I just thought I would Google Cowsills while I was explaining to my musical son, of how I loved the song "Hair". My sisters and I would put skirts over our heads and swing them in the air like we were singers in the group. I heard your songs on Sirius Radio and glad to hear your group once more, what memories. Billy will be missed, and I honestly feel things happen for a reason, as bad as situations can be. I know he is up there singing with the best!

Here in Brasil we could hear on the radio the song 'the rain, the park, and other things' every December and they played for the whole month!
Maybe because the song is beautifull and makes people happy even those who could not understand the lyrics because it was in English.
Well this is the miracle of the universal language that we call music and the writters of this language have left their stamp on this world and will never be forgotten.Thank you Billy!!!

I was deeply saddened to learn of Billy's passing. I saw Bob, Paul and Susan on the Florence Henderson Show and was thrilled to see them and hear them sing again. I loved the Cowsills music. What a great legacy you leave Billy.
